Hello everyone!

I'm interested in that is there any chance to get Hero Battles in game or is it totally deleted from game. I think I'm not the only one who would like to play HB again.

I really miss HB but sadly I don't think Anet wants to fix the mistake they made deleting it.

gone in favour of balance. at least all the rank junkies moved to codex from HA. (codex was fun for at least 2 days before they moved in). to be honest i didn't think it was that great, NPC AI isn't the greatest :/

I miss HB but I don't want it back because the majority that did red resign only got to r2 commander so if they brought it back it would ruin any value r3+ commander has for HoM.

Actually, Commander has next to no value from r6 and below. Lieutenant Commander and higher, imo, are the tiers that shine with a certain prestige (and the guy with r11 Commander impresses the shit out of me [tier-wise, not performance-wise. I've HA'ed with him and he was pretty 'meh']).

I disagree I think players who have earned r3+ legitimately show they have enough experience with the HB format, r6+ is commendable but it only shows they grinded a meta while I'm a player that likes to play all the formats and enjoy everything the game has to offer.

They will never bring it back because they never admit mistakes hb was still RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing broken game wise and exploit wise. If hb ever came back, point farming, maps, shadow steps and point farming most of which wouldn't be that difficult.

yeah, there was a common exploit with hero battles that players would use to get stacks of z-keys with zero effort, so instead of fixing it arenanet pulled an arenanet and deleted the whole thing

com3 could be obtained extremely easily. I never grinded any title in my life (except for when I had to remax my Luxon and Kurzick titles on my new main account last year) and I got com3 in a weekend. Just be better than other players and don't /roll100. If they ask you to roll, say no and wipe them like PvE aggro.

I only got up to com5 (with both accounts combined) but I can tell you for sure that anything below 7 is very low and lacks total prestige.



Having said that, Considering how long Hero battles has been out, I don't see why you would call that title a grind. Play 15-20 matches a day (which is what? 2 hours at most?) for a few years and even a total baddie could have a high tier.

Well , grinding commander title wasn't the same at all being top100-200 than being r1000+ ( considering time waitings , monk abusers on crossing , etc... ).

However , it would be nice if HB came back, since now HA and GvG are extremly boring with 30mn fights , since all are running defensive builds . For both , you just cant play them on some hours ( no GvG at all for 2/3 of a day usually ! , and you can expect 10+restarts in HA ) .And RA , well there are enough threads complaining about it ( no monk , OP skills .. ) , so i will pass .
Aswell , the tourney system was nice since it allowed anyone , exped or beginner to do a tournament and everyone had the same chances , which isn't rly the case in GvG ( a casual guild , or not exped can get 2/2 or 2/3 most of time if lucky )

So , yes , it's sad that HB was gone ( while they only had to delete 1 quest ... ) , but looking at updates we get , it won't come back for sure. Anyway , as we said on other threads , it would be nice if something could FINALLY be done with codex ( adding costume brawl system maybe ?.. )

For the last time, HB wasn't deleted because of the zq quest or because of RR day.
It was deleted because anet had no idea how to fix it and did not accept any suggestions.

I would really like for it to come back. We already knew what needed to be done to fix HB but Anet never listened, claiming that everything would just be band-aids. Funny thing is that none of the proposed solutions were anything close to band-aids!

Gotta disagree. The biggest problem with HB was faulty AI, and with that, there were too many methods to bug them out(If heroes are en route, you can easily body block them with ANOTHER HERO while fighting the opponent, much to his surprise) and it made Assassin Asshats feel pro because they could abuse single target damage and Knockdown spam against them. Monks stalled games out, shadow stepping here and there, the occasional trapper was annoying as shit, Dervs got knocked outta the meta thanks to Rend Enchantments ALONE, The crossing...the format was going to have to be mutated into something else entirely, which would essentially mean a couple
"fixes" were in fact just going to be band-aids.

The AI was the main problem yes ( bad flags , cancel cast , easy stucks , etc...) , thus it could lead to some problems for newcomers yes , but shadowsteps or monk abusers weren't that much hard to beat once you were used to play against it .

I can't consider you had to play THE meta if you wanted to win ( compared to GvG or HA ( even RA ) ) , since there were smite monk top150 , n/el with not close to meta heroes top100, balthazar dervish top100 , ... . Of course , most of the top100 were monks or porters , but you could still have a chance with any build . That's what i liked in HB .

Anyway , since i don't think HB will come back , i guess we should think of some changes or even a little ) we could finally get in The epic replace we got for HB and TA .
Codex arena didn't ever get a simple fix to change things there , so i would like to know for which reason we keep that arena rather than HB or TA if it's not going to get any update ....

Sorry for not being clear but when I said "fix it", I am including the AI improvements that are needed to be done.
